Eye Check Anyone?

What Do You See?

In a world full of chaos and discord, I found I have had to be very intentional when it comes to noticing goodness. God is helping me do this more and more each day because I asked him to. That’s the cool thing about God if you ask him anything following his will, he is more than happy as a good Father to give the request to you. While seeking the Lord for answers, he showed me again. It is about my heart or man’s heart. It is our hearts that are out of tune with goodness: his goodness and his love.

Now to change this, it is going to take more than just my physical eye, but my spiritual sight. The Bible has a lot to say about the eyes. I started to ask the Lord to give me his eyes to show me the best to help me notice the world how he sees it, not how the enemy of my soul wants me to view it. We have a real enemy, and he wants nothing more than to kill your joy, steal your peace, and fill you with fear and dread. I started to ask God to illuminate me. God brings light to my situation so that I would get a clear vision.” 2020 a year like no other,” as my Pastor Lynn Epps stated it would be.

See, God gave him that vision as he fasted and prayed to start this year, and boy was he right. I feel in the depths of my soul for those of us that he’s called to be Watchmen. What is a watchman? It’s a person appointed by God to bring forth his word to the world. It’s a reference to life today in reflection and the understanding of God’s word. Then through his word, he has given us a clear vision. Ironically in world standards, if you were to score 20/20 at the eye doctor, they would say you have perfect vision. So let God help us focus in as we get an eye check.

I think William Shakespeare said it perfectly” the eyes are the window of the soul.” The Bible says in Mathew 6:22 “the light of the body is the eye if therefore then I be single by whole body shall be full of light.” And in: Romans 3:9-20 – No One Is Righteous 9What shall we conclude then? Do we have any advantage? Not at all! For we have already made the charge that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under the power of sin. 10As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one; 11there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. 12All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.” 13“Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit.” “The poison of vipers is on their lips.” 14“Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.” 15“Their feet are swift to shed blood; 16ruin and misery mark their ways, 17and the way of peace they do not know.” 18“There is no fear of God before their eyes.” 19Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. 20Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.

OK, so let’s break that down. Every one of us falls under the law of sin. We live in a generation where people don’t understand because they don’t seek God or maybe at one point they did, and now they’ve turned away and are living worldly. You can see this by the words that they speak and in their conduct. Today many in the church live the same as the world even though they claim to be believers in Jesus Christ. It’s not scriptural. He said we would be known by our fruit and by the overflow of our hearts. Why is this, you say? I believe this is because they have no real fear of God in their eyes. By their standards or in their eyes, they have the right to do what they want to do when they want to do it, how they want to do it, the freedom to say whatever they want to say, they want no authority over them. They want to live in lawlessness; they are slaves to sin. I guess this is why the Bible tells us to guard our hearts for it is the wellspring of life. We all could fall prey to this lie that once saved, always saved, but God, says he makes us new, we should be like him. Bring good to the world. Matthew 12:34 – 34You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.

As I reflect on this, if out of our mouth is the indicator of the state of our heart, that means the tongue shows the fruit that’s hidden in the heart or the state of our hearts condition. Now here is where it gets crazy. Usually, our words will parallel with our actions. Paul writes about this. He is quoting Psalm 36: 18 it says, “there is No Fear for God before their eyes.” That is, it!! God showed me when you love me; you fear to disappoint me out of love, honor, and respect. Out of the overflow of thankfulness of all that I have done to have a relationship with you and people are missing the mark. You may be asking well, that is the problem, but what is the solution? The solution is simple; it is me, and it is you. No matter what you face in this world, they cannot turn off the light on the inside unless you choose to. You must choose to serve God or serve self and your sinful nature.

You cannot serve two masters. You are either a slave to sin, or you die daily to self. You either choose to walk in righteousness known as the path of life or the narrow path, or you choose the other way is which is extremely broad and brings death. Since sin brings death, if you are a child of God, you should no longer be a slave to sin. We need to cry out to God from the depths of our soul and ask him for prospective. When we do, he shows you goodness all around, and he helps you to see the world as he does. Different! We are different, and how we live this life and view things and how others view us should be a clear vision of who Jesus if we are truly his son or daughter.

Let us look at 2 Corinthians 4:18 – “while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are unseen; For the things which are seen are temporal, but the unseen things are eternal. I don’t know about you, but knowing there is more then meets the eye to the things I see in the world today. Think of this illustration. We know the world and our situation from a minimal perspective, like looking at the back of a tapestry. Looking at the backside of a tapestry, it is a bunch of tangled strings all mixed up together with knots and tangles; to be honest with you, it just looks like a big old mess. Ah, the magic happens when you get to see the tapestry from the other side; that is when a beautiful artwork or picture displays right before your eyes. My God sits with the upper perspective while down here underneath on the backside; all I see is the tangled mess. I still get to see beautiful colors, and I can tell this whole thing took much design and time. Uncourtly the way the church is today, only a few will get to see the divine masterpiece and get to look down on this whole creation from the Heavenly view.

So God helps us too creatively see things the way you see them in Ephesians 1:18 it says,” I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what it is the hope of his calling. “This is Hope to see beyond what we see in the natural. It is a balance a combination of spiritual insight and physical sight.

I do not know about you, but I am WATCHING! I do not want to miss a strand of goodness he might reveal. So, thank you, Father, now my eyes have lost the scales, and my eyes are Wide Open. May my vision focus in more and stay fixed on you till I get the heavenly view and see fully in 2020 vision!
